About Us

Author Alivia Tagliaferri and Illustrator Jamie Lynn Mahoney have been friends since high school. They forget a lot of lyrics to David Bowie songs, but that doesn’t stop the duo from singing them.

Fun Fact: They even played the cello together in the Williamsport Area High School Orchestra and traveling ensemble, “The Strolling Strings."

MEET ALIVIA

Alivia C. Tagliaferri is an author, filmmaker, small business owner, and musical theatre writer and composer who believes the best stories help us laugh, imagine, and see the world a little differently.

She wrote and co-created the Let's Read Oren series inspired by the humor, heart, and boundless curiosity found in everyday moments with kids.

When she's not creating stories, Alivia enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening, thrifting, walking in the woods, and figuring out the answers to her son's endless questions. Of course, that includes What Would a Ninja Do?

Alivia graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor of art’s degree in history; she played the cello in the PSU Symphony Orchestra (1994-1995) and was a flanker/inside center for the Penn State Women’s Rugby team (1996-1999). Yes, rugby.

(She’s super excited about the second production of STOA, the children’s musical she wrote and composed. That book is next!)

MEET JAMIE

Jamie Lynn Mahoney is an illustrator, designer, fine artist, U.S. Army veteran, gardener, outdoors person, animal lover, traveler, wanderer, singer, yarn lover, and recently an amateur harmonica player.

Jamie finds the humor in life and gathers her inspiration from the amazing world around her.

Jamie owns Stone Root [Creative] Studio. She lives with her amazing family in Pennsylvania. When she's not thinking about the next best invention or a new story to write/illustrate, you can find Jamie singing in her garden or hiking the beautiful wilds of Pennsylvania with her husband and their two dogs.

She’s a graduate of MFA program at Marywood University and earned a bachelor of science in graphic design from the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

(Jamie makes really cool beanies, scarves, and pretty much anything she thinks of making.)

MEET JOHN

John Anthony Charles Fitzgerald is the junior author whose very cold walk to school with Mom helped inspire Oren’s first adventure.

It was so cold, even his chicken nuggets froze.
